Inverloch Water Tanks

Inverloch is a seaside town located in Victoria, 143 kilometres south east of Melbourne and 40 kilometres east of Phillip Island.

For over 30 years now, Pioneer Water Tanks have been building and designing water tanks Inverloch can rely on.

Pioneer Water Tank owners in Inverloch rest easy in the knowledge they have the backing of Australia's number one big tank manufacturer.

Victoria is often seen from the outside as a rainy lush state all over, however, residents know better, and have their water supply requirements in mind.

An Ongoing Battle with the Elements

The Inverloch climate

Inverloch's location on the north shore of Bass Strait gives it an oceanic climate, with the moderating effect of the ocean allowing a narrower temperature range throughout the year compared to other regions in Victoria.

Inverloch's average annual rainfall is 920.7mm, making it a fair amount wetter than the nearby capital in Melbourne.

The first European to settle in the Inverloch area was Samuel Anderson who, together with his brothers and Robert Massie, ran cattle and grew wheat in the area, before it became a coal port.

Rainwater run-off and flooding

In a nation as dry as Australia, rain of any kind is often a welcomed sight, however modern facilities like roadways and footpaths, along with changing weather conditions, can often lead to flash flooding as a result of storm water run off, which can cause extensive damage.

If a twenty-four hour period saw a 100mm deposit of rainfall on Inverloch, it would only require one hundred homes with fitted water tanks and adequate guttering to prevent 2 million litres of water from entering the ecosystem.

Bushfire preparation

Australia is world renowned for having long warm summers, and if you discount the obvious outlier in Antarctica, is the driest continent on earth. This, coupled with the life cycle of many native plants, leaves much of Victoria vulnerable to widespread bushfires.

An important way to prepare for the drier summer months is to ensure that you not only have a bushfire action plan, but also that you have adequate water storage to help you and emergency services protect against the threat of wildfires.

A steel water tank can be used as both fire protection and water storage for the home, and Pioneer also offers a fire reserve option for your water tank if needed.

Outperforming all comers in bushfire conditions

A Pioneer Water Tank performed better than the competitors in bushfire simulation when testing was done by the Bushfire and National Hazards CRC in collaboration with the CSIRO.

After 30 minutes of submersion in flame, the Pioneer Water Tank continued to hold water, a vital feature for firefighting efforts, while the other tanks tested either melted or split, causing their water to be partly or fully lost.

If your water tank has been subjected to fire, it is essential to ensure that you get your water tested as soon as possible to make sure that it is safe for food preparation or drinking. The water would, however, still be suitable for purposes such as watering gardens or lawns.

The Pioneer Water Tanks Difference

Pioneer V-Lock ® tank wall profile

Designed for toughness and for the sole function of water storage, the Pioneer V-Lock ® tank wall profile is also a Pioneer Water Tanks exclusive.

The V-Lock wall profile is designed to put the steel where it is needed most, for the optimal strength and support, as well as protecting the tank liner, not just from external debris, but also against stretching or warping from the tank filling and emptying.

Don't just take our word for it, the design is so sound, it won an Australian Design Award for its strength and appearance.

Aqualiner Fresh ® antimicrobial water tank liner

The Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner is a Pioneer Water Tanks exclusive, the only antimicrobial tank liner available on the market today, and is proven to prevent the growth of algae and bacteria in your water tank.

Utilising Sanitized ® technology, the Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner has the antibacterial qualities of silver woven into the tank liner.

The most technologically advanced, cleanest and strongest liner available on the market, this is an industry leading product, comprised of five distinct layers to protect and store your water.

Inverloch Local Insight

Local knowledge

Australia’s first discovered dinosaur bone, the Cape Paterson Claw, was discovered here in 1903 by William Ferguson in Cape Paterson in what is now Eagles Nest in the Bunurong Marine National Park. Eagles Nest is also famous in its own right, for being shaped like the top half of a map of Australia.

Things to do in Inverloch

Inverloch is a popular tourist destination, and for good reason. With lakes, beaches and an estuary there is no shortage of water based activities to partake in, including swimming, kitesurfing and windsurfing at the calm waters of Anderson Inlet, surfing off the coast, or fishing in any of the waters.

The town showcases local produce from the farms and towns of South Gippsland, local artists, entertainers, community groups and service clubs at a monthly market held by the Lions Club on the last Sunday of every month.
