An Ongoing Battle with the Elements
The Paynesville climate
Paynesville has a mild temperate climate with warm summers and mild to cool winters.
With the majority of its rainfall coming in the winter months Paynesville sees an average of 695mm of rainfall annually.
Paynesville is a thriving town well served by a range of shops, cafes, a bank and a newly built community centre and library. Much of the town's recent growth has stemmed from the development of a network of canals and prestige homes which have created two artificial islands within the township.
Rainwater run-off and flooding
While many people across our dry country relish the sight of rain, evolving weather conditions, and modern infrastructure have resulted in increasing cases of storm water run off and flash flooding.
If Paynesville received 100mm of rain in a twenty four hour downpour, it would require just 100 houses to have water tanks to prevent 2 million litres of water from entering stormwater systems and contributing to stormwater runoff and flooding damages.
Bushfire preparation
Australia's famed warm summer weather and year round sunshine comes at a cost, with the nation holding the title of the driest (non-Antarctica) continent on the planet. This comes with the unwanted risk of widespread bushfires across the country.
An important way to prepare for the drier summer months is to ensure that you not only have a bushfire action plan, but also that you have sufficient water storage to help you and emergency services protect against the threat of wildfires.
A steel water tank can be used as both fire protection and water storage for the home, and Pioneer also provides a fire reserve option for your water tank if required.
Outperforming all comers in bushfire conditions
When the Bushfire and National Hazards CRC in conjunction with the CSIRO performed bushfire simulations on a variety of water tanks, a steel Pioneer Water Tank held up best.
Importantly, as opposed to the other tanks - which either melted or split - the Pioneer Water Tank continued to hold water even after a fire front, which could prove crucial to firefighting efforts.
If your water tank has been exposed to fire, it is essential to ensure that you get your water tested as soon as possible to make sure that it is safe for food preparation or drinking. The water would, however, still be suitable for purposes such as watering gardens or lawns.
The Pioneer Water Tanks Difference
Pioneer V-Lock ® tank wall profile
The Pioneer V-Lock ® tank wall profile has been engineered for toughness, and designed with the sole function of water storage in mind.
The V-Lock wall profile is designed to put the steel where it is needed most, for the optimal strength and support, as well as protecting the tank liner, not just from external debris, but also against stretching or warping from the tank filling and emptying.
It's a design so good, it won an Australian Design Award for the superior strength and internal support, along with its aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Aqualiner Fresh ® antimicrobial water tank liner
Shown to prevent the growth of undesirable bacteria in your water tank, the Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner is the only antimicrobial water tank liner available on the market, and a Pioneer Water tanks exclusive.
