When the Bushfire and National Hazards CRC in conjunction with the CSIRO performed bushfire simulations on a range of water tanks, a steel Pioneer Water Tank performed best.

All other tanks tested either melted or split, causing them to lose valuable water, however the Pioneer Water Tank continued to hold water after being exposed to the full 30 minute fire front, which could prove essential to fire fighting efforts.

While a water tank will still prove sufficient for watering gardens or lawns, if it has been exposed to fire, it is highly recommended that you get the tank water tested as soon as possible to make sure that it is still safe for household use.
