An Ongoing Battle with the Elements
The Warragul climate
Warragul is defined as having a Marine West Coast Climate, and experiences significant rainfall year round, and mild summers.
Sitting near mountains and valleys, Warragul receives plentiful rainfall, with the average precipitation coming in at 1,022.6mm.
The surrounding area of Warragul is noted for dairy farming and other niche agriculture, and has long been producing gourmet foods.
Rainwater run-off and flooding
Whilst rainfall is a welcome sight across this dry nation of ours, changing weather conditions causing heavy storms, and modern infrastructure such as bitumen and concrete, often results in the build-up of water and flash flooding, which can cause damage to property and the environment.
If 100mm of rain fell on Warragul in just 24 hours, in order to prevent two million litres of rainfall from entering stormwater systems, it would require just 100 homes armed with rainwater tanks and suitable guttering.
Bushfire preparation
Australia's famed hot summer weather and year round sunshine comes at a cost, with the country holding the title of the driest (non-Antarctica) continent on the planet. This comes with the undesirable risk of widespread bushfires across the country.
In addition to having a bushfire action plan, an important way to prepare for the dry summer months is to ensure that you have sufficient water storage to help safeguard you from the threat of fire, and a Pioneer Water Tank helps provide that protection.
Pioneer Water Tanks offers the option of a fire reserve in your tank, to ensure it can be used for both domestic water storage and fire protection.
Outperforming all comers in bushfire conditions
The CSIRO performed bushfire simulation tests on water tanks in collaboration with the Bushfire and National Hazards CRC, and the results showed that a steel Pioneer Water Tank held up better than the competition.
After 30 minutes of submersion in flame, the Pioneer Water Tank continued to hold water, a critical feature for firefighting efforts, while the other tanks tested either melted or split, causing their water to be partly or fully lost.
After a fire front has passed, the water in your tank can still be used for non-consumptive purposes, like irrigating your gardens, however, it is highly recommended to get your water tested as soon as possible to make sure that your water is safe before using it for food preparation or drinking.
The Pioneer Water Tanks Difference
Pioneer V-Lock ® tank wall profile
The Pioneer V-Lock ® tank wall profile has been engineered for toughness, and designed with the sole purpose of water storage in mind.
The V-Lock profile is designed both for strength and to protect the tank liner, by preventing stretching and wear, and the sheets are engineered to the ideal thickness for each panel, meaning we put the steel where it's needed most.
Don't just take our word for it, the design is so sound, it won an Australian Design Award for its durability and appearance.
Aqualiner Fresh ® antimicrobial water tank liner
Shown to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria in your water tank, the Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner is the only antimicrobial water tank liner available on the market, and a Pioneer Water tanks exclusive.
Utilising Sanitized ® technology, the Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner has the antibacterial qualities of silver woven into the tank liner.
